In general, no Christian is obliged to fight if called up for recruitment. This is because there is no evidence that says that such a person is exempt from participating in anything if called up by the army.
The truth is that all inhabitants of the country have the obligation to fight if called up to serve the country. The question is whether a Christian has to fight during recruitment? The answer is simple, yes – he does have to fight for his country. When it comes to war and service to the country – the issue of dueling with another soldier from another country. The Bible gives us evidence that when it comes to war – war is considered holy. In other words, when a Christian is called up for recruitment, he has the duty to serve his country and if there is a killing, he is exempt before God. This is because it is a war.
Each country has its own methodologies for recruitment – but understand that if a Christian is called up, he has the duty to defend his country of origin.
In the verse as written by Luke, the beloved physician, he wrote about John the Baptist. It is quoted as follows: “And what should we do?” He replied: “Do not extort money from anyone or make false accusations; be content with your wages.” Here, we can understand that John the Baptist is giving guidance to the soldiers so that they may live a righteous and ethical life. We can understand that although those soldiers serve Rome and even kill in the name of Rome, their salvation is assured – if they live righteously and have heavenly ethics.
Another verse that speaks about a recruited Christian is when the Bible mentions “who trains my hands for war, my fingers for battle.” [Psalm 144:1]
After all, the Bible is full of stories of war between God’s people and other peoples. The Bible mentions that God trains his servants for war – the truth is that when it comes to war, the believer is exempt from any guilt.
So, in this article, do Christians have to fight during a draft? The answer is yes, all inhabitants of the country have a duty to defend their country. Some have doubts about this, due to the movie that was released “Hacksaw Ridge” where the soldier did not use a weapon to fight and claimed that his faith did not allow such a thing. The point is that all men have a duty to defend their home country. That is – the Christian has a duty to serve in combat, if called for conscription.
